Operation Breaking Stereotypes
A small group of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students at Orono Middle School will work with the Operation Breaking Stereotypes organization again this year as they partner with students at Indian Island School and Leonard Middle School in Old Town.
This group will meet weekly and will travel to Indian Island and to LMS to tour their schools. Our students will also host Indian Island and LMS students here at OMS. The focus of this group is to explore identity and culture in our communities and to facilitate conversations and activities that promote understanding and equity. The year will end with a special project that will allow students to share their knowledge and understanding of these issues with a wider audience to promote a more equitable world.
