Both the boys and the girls cross country teams returned from Orrington on Tuesday, Oct. 17, as champions of the Penobscot Valley Middle League. The boys bested runners-up Holbrook Middle School, 41-69, as well as the other six teams in our conference. It is the first PVML title for the Orono boys. The girls beat a very talented Center Drive School team, 25-36, as well as the other six teams who competed. It is the fourth PVML title for the Orono girls, all in the last four years.
More importantly, the cross country team earned the PVML Sportsmanship Award, as voted on by all the coaches in our league. The team members composed themselves in a manner that would make OMS and the Orono community very proud.
Lastly, and most importantly, the runners on this year’s team enjoyed a very positive fall season. With a goal of making small improvements each day, the team members showed incredible effort and worked at having fun at each practice and meet. With great support from family, faculty, and friends, the 2017 season was a success!
